Summer Concert at St Thomas’
On Friday 12th July we had the pleasure of returning to St Thomas’ Church for our annual Summer Concert. The audience were treated to an entertaining and exciting programme featuring some of our favourite pieces to perform including “A Disney Fantasy”, “MacArthur Park” and “Out of Africa”.
The concert also featured some outstanding solo playing. Our Trombone section featuring Rosie Johnson, Pete Johnson and Tony Grant played a rousing rendition of “Blades of Toledo”. We also heard Gillian Spragg on Tenor Horn play “Nobody does it Better”, Phil Jones on Solo Euphonium play “Be my Love” and 2nd Cornet player Daniel Johnson played his first solo with the band. Daniel, played the solo “At First Light” beautifully.
To conclude the evening, the band performed Ray Farrs exciting and energetic arrangement of “Riverdance” which featured our Principal Cornet player Hayley Cocksey and Flugelhorn player Pete Cookson. Thank you to all who attended and made the concert such a success. We look forward to returning to St Thomas’ in November where we shall accompany their Remembrance Sunday service.
