North West Area Contest 2025

The band was proud to take part in the North West Area Championships, held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool this February. A key event in the brass banding calendar, the contest brings together ensembles from across the region to compete in a celebration of musical talent and commitment.

This year, we performed “Friendly Takeover” by Oliver Waespi—a dynamic and challenging test piece that pushed us musically and technically. Under the baton of our musical director, we delivered a spirited performance that we had worked hard to prepare.

While the final result was disappointing, the day was still an immensely rewarding experience for the band. We enjoyed the opportunity to perform in the Second Section following last years promotion and to support our friends in fellow bands throughout the day. As always, it was also a chance to bond as a group and take in the unique atmosphere that makes contesting in Blackpool so memorable.
